Since the website of Zero Hora, brazilian newspaper, was launched in Sep. 2007, its newsroom has been thoroughly integrated, allowing efficient cooperation between the online and print staffs. But the  newsroom was officially inaugurated last Friday.

The inauguration of the brand new integrated newsroom took place on Dec. 14th, in presence of Mr Jayme Sirotsky, Chairman of the Board of Grupo RBS and former World Association of Newspapers President, the President and CEO of Grupo RBS, Mr Nelson Sirotsky and, as well as the members of the Executive Committee.

The 234 reporters, photographers, editors and designers get information for both platforms, online and print. For instance, photographers take videos for the website instead of only shooting photos for the newspaper. Designers produce infographics for both the site and the paper. Decisions related to planning, budget and editing are taken both by online and offline editors.

The shake-up of the working procedures implied the physical revamp of the newsroom. In the center of the room was placed the multimedia desk, where offline and online editors in chief sit, now concentrates operations.

“We work and invest so that our contents, which may be journalistic or that of entertainment, reach people through the different platforms available in the market. The integration of the print and online Zero Hora’s newsrooms is part of  this philosophy”, states the President and CEO of Grupo RBS, Mr. Nelson Sirotsky.

The news website zerohora.com, launched on September 19th, has already reached 3 million visits per month, it planned to have.
