UK: Trinity Mirror prepares to launch region specific mobile service

The Trinity Mirror is preparing to launch a multi-platform mobile service that will be tailored to the mobile user’s postal code.
The group head of interactive Rick Gleave, said at first the service will only be offered by the Trinity Mirror’s larger titles, including the Daily Mirror, but hopefully it will eventually provide readers across the UK with news specific to their area.

The Times and The Sun have also both launched mobile news services, but neither are specific to regions.

Gleave has said that it is important to offer advertisers a multi-platform service and said that the service would most likely be funded by on-screen ads.

At first, the service will focus on producing horoscopes and games before it moves onto the news.
