Photo: new agency Noor to launch, Commonwealth Awards

On Sep 6, nine well-known documentary photographers are launching Noor, a photo agency targeted toward the international market. And the 2007 Commonwealth Photographic Awards crowned the Australian Brenton Edwards.

The Noor agency will serve both to sell and exhibit the work of the nine photographers. Professionals and customers can access the website starting on Sep 7.

Noor’s founding members and photographers include Samantha Appleton (United States), Jodi Bieber (South Africa), Philip Blenkinsop (Australia), Pep Bonet (Spain), Jan Grarup (Denmark), Stanley Greene (United States), Yuri Kozyrev (Russia), Kadir van Lohuizen (The Netherlands) and Francesco Zizola (Italy).

The theme of the 2007 Commonwealth Photographic Awards revolved around ‘achievement’. Edwards was the overall winner for his photography of a young martial arts student held aloft, balancing on the tips of swords and spears.

An exhibition pf the winners’ photographs will be held at The Commonwealth Club in London, from Sep 10 to Oct 31. Winning pictures can be viewed at Cpu.org.
