UK: name changes reflect future of newspapers

The Northcliffe Newspaper Group is changing its name to Northcliffe Media Limited in order to reflect its future orientation towards multimedia. A name change that’s symbolic of the entire industry.
"This reflects the changing nature of our business,” said group managing director Michael Pelosi.
"Northcliffe’s digital activities – editorial and commercial – are expanding rapidly.”
"This new name reflects the multi platform nature of Northcliffe’s publishing activities."
Northcliffe has 36 publishing centers in the UK, 18 daily titles with combined sales of 800,000 copies a day, 29 paid-for weeklies and 62 free titles.
The Guardian Media Group (GMG) had gone through a similar change last year when it renamed GMG Regional Newspapers to GMG Regional Media.
Newspaper companies everywhere are realizing the need for product diversification, as ad revenues and circulation are dropping.
