Germany: Axel Springer unable to buy broadcasting station

Posted by Allie Judson on November 28, 2006 at 3:18 PM
The German media giant Axel Springer’s desire to buy broadcasting station ProSiebenSAT1 has been put to rest after anti-trust laws put a stop to the deal. Despite the minor setback, Springer is going forward with other plans for expansion.
The international publisher has since invested in broadcasting companies in Turkey and Poland. The company is hoping to connect both the publishing and television media through their investments.

Springer is also working on launching a French version of their highest read German paper Bild.  Along with their original German version, the company also has successful Polish publications, Fakt and Dziennik.

The French Bild will open up a new network for Springer as they expand into Western Europe.
