Germany: World Cup Soccer matches on your mobile phone
T mobile, Deutsche Telekom's mobile division, will broadcast 20 of this summer's World Cup soccer matches so that customers can watch them on their mobile phone handsets. T Mobile customers will pay 2 euros a day or 7.50 euros a month for the service, which will also offer MTV programming.
British mobile service provider O2 is planning a similar initiative at World Cup time.
It remains to b seen how successful the T mobile initiative will be; of Germany's 80 million mobile phone users only 2.3 million own phones capable of exploiting the technology that would play video of the soccer matches.
