Cape Town: Free household papers "freakish"

Free newspapers delivered to households are not sustainable, according to Tφger Seidenfaden, editor of Denmark’s paid-for newspaper, Politiken. Speaking at the 14th World Editors Forum, Seidenfaden said free household newspapers were unlikely to become a fad because of high editorial, production and distribution costs.

Jennifer Carroll, Vice-President/New Media Content at Gannett Co. (USA), this morning showed editors of 14th World Editors Forum how to create community journalism today. In a snowstorm that hit Cincinnati in February, cincinnati.com gave constantly updated information on power cuts and driving through the snow, as well as publishing readers’ photos as they came in.
