Photo: Reuters journalists camp in the grounds of the Muzaffarabad Press Club. For the first time, foreign journalists are able to travel to into Muzaffarabad without "minders" or official permission. Muzaffarabad is the capital of the Pakistani part of Kashmir called "liberated Kashmir", the other part - with Srinagar as capital - is called"occupied Kashmir" in the country. From Brand Republic Bulletin: Finally, controversial "former Mirror Group chief executive David Montgomery's long-running search for a newspaper to acquire is over as he snaps up the German newspaper group Berliner Verlag for an estimated £100m.
The deal sees Montgomery buy the owner of the Berliner Zeitung newspaper through his company Mecom. He will take a non-executive role at the newspaper with plans to develop it beyond Berlin into the wider German market. It is the first time a foreign company has owned a German newspaper (see also former posting).

The 13th World Editors Forum will be held in Moscow, Russia from 4 to 7 June 2006, together with the annual Newspapers Congress.
Globally there will be more than 1,200 editors and publishers, as in June 2005 in Seoul (12th World Editors Forum). It is a unique occasion for networking with senior news executives from around the world.
We will publish very soon the major elements of the Forum's programme, but already if you have ideas - or wishes - of topics and suggestions for speakers, don't hesitate to contact me (see the "contact us" button).
The Editors Weblog (www.editorsweblog.org) is published by the World Editors Forum, the organization for editors within the World Association of Newspapers.
