The famous Russian newspaper Izvestia and The New York Times are introducing the first Russian-language version of the New York Times International Weekly in Moscow editions of Izvestia, 19th June.

The Russian version of the Editors Weblog was officially launched on 16
th of March (in fact it started working in early February) in Moscow during the visit of
Timothy Balding, CEO of
WAN, and
Bertrand Pecquerie, Director of
WEF.

Boris Berezovskiy, a popular Russian businessman who now lives in London, has sold his Kommersant publishing house to his friend and partner Badri Patarkacishvili, a president of the Georgia Olympic committee, who is searched for by the Russian general prosecutor.

One of the biggest and most influential Russian newspaper Komsomolskaya Pravda (The Prof-Media Holding) has lost its building in the Pravda street, 24 in Moscow. It was totally destroyed yesterday during a big fire. All the staff members were rescued except a waitress form the local restaurant who died.

Ukraine has become the 22nd on the list of countries who published the cartoons depicting the prophet Mohammed. Several pictures appeared in the Kiev newspaper Segodnja (the Russian for “Today”) illustrating the article under the name “Cartoonists to begin World War III?” the Ukrainian Muslims called it provocation and claimed apologies on the side of the publisher.

A new editor in chief was appointed to the Moscow newspaper Moskovskie Novosti (Moscow News) – one of the most popular Russian media in late 80s – 90s. Vitaly Tretjakov took this position who before was the founder and editor of the legendary newspaper Nezavisimaya Gazeta.
