Guardian journalists voted on Nov. 29th an “enabling deal” that backs the newspaper’s 24/7 plan. The National Union of Journalists’ Guardian chapel endorsed the deal by 211 votes to 27.

Reuters' reporters have been experimenting for a few months now with mobile journalism toolkit, using a Nokia N95. They have mostly used it for TV reporters to shoot video for the Web, but now a text reporter will use a handset and a Bluetooth keyboard to file to the wire from L.A. and Las Vegas.

SÜDKURIER, a regional newspaper in southern Germany, is experimenting with new technologies of news-distribution. Apart from the daily newspaper and its Internet platform containing a news ticker, SÜDKURIER offers a news-feed, an E-paper in pdf-format and a daily television program (suedkurier.tv) from 4 pm onwards. The television news is either presented as moving images or with a newscaster reading the information in front of a camera. “We want to be number one in all distribution channels,” says editor-in-chief Thomas Satinsky. Lancaster New Era to end Saturday edition

Three journalists from Britain’s Daily Telegraph were ordered to leave Pakistan on Saturday for using “foul and abusive language” against its leadership, reported state television in Pakistan. On Friday the newspaper referred to President Pervez Musharraf as a ‘sonofabitch.’

The rough reports from publishers do not necessarily mean that print journalism is becoming extinct. Both The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times have had respectable results. Panelists at the Media and Money Conference felt as though the fate of print publishers isn’t determined by the industry they’re in, but the moves they make to adjust.

In Andy Dickinson’s second survey regarding video workload in newsrooms he has expanded on his first survey. He gave updated results on production times by splitting it into three categories (pre-production, production, and post-production) in order to give a true sense of how long it should take to produce video (4 hours should be allowed to produce one minute of video).
