Poynter has collected the first impressions of 8 experts about The Daily. "My first impression is very positive. Team Murdoch has done what I've always hoped newspapers would do with their tablet editions -- create an interactive hybrid of print and Web that is visually rich and enjoyable to read", said Roger Fidler, Program Director for Digital Publishing of the Donald W. Reynolds Journalism Institute.

"One of Nepal's top television networks has begun broadcasting its nightly news bulletin in semi-darkness to highlight the effects of massive power cuts", BBC News reported.
Since the beginning of February, Kantipur Television has used only a kerosene (paraffin) lantern to light its 30-minute-long 7pm news bulletin. The aim is to put pressure on government to act against the 12 hours of power cuts a day Nepal is suffering.

"The Associated Press Board of Directors has approved the company's plans for an independent digital news licensing agency", Journalism.co.uk reported. The new entity, to be called the News Licensing Group, will launch in summer this year, building on the work of AP's News Registry, which tags, tracks and measures the use of content online. As the article reported, according to a release, "The News Licensing Group will also deal with the licensing, marketing, and distributing of news content "in a way that respects intellectual property rights and enables news organisations to make continued investments in their news operations."
