Nobel Prize winner for literature and internationally known writer Günter Grass visited this year's World Editors Forum to talk about his life, newly published memoires and new developments in journalism.

"Of course there is not the kind censorship like we had in former times, but there are other problems: news media only following the main stream, opposition is too weak", he remarked.

Moreover, he revealed that in principle he has nothing against new technical devices like e-readers appearing on the journalistic stage. However, "having a huge amount of news circulating out there is not necessarily equal to having a great knowledge" he warns and calls for guaranteeing quality in journalism.

We are covering the 17th World Editors Forum on our Twitter feed @NewspaperWorld (#WEFHamburg) and the European Journalism Centre is live-streaming a selection of sessions.
