The opening day of the 62nd World Newspaper Congress brought three roundtable discussions and unexpected crowds to Hyderabad, India, on 30 November.
Coordinators had expected an increase in size from the previous years, but were surprised to find nearly 130 attendees filling the Free Press Forum.
Jan Jenson, cheif editor of Elkstra Bladet, a newspaper out of Coppenhagen, Denmark, was impressed with the turn-out. He says it was the best session he's attended since he began coming to the congress in 2004. Jenson says his newspaper has gone through nothing compared to that of those on the panels.
