Texas Tribune receives $750,000 in funds

The non-profit Texas Tribune has received $750, 000 in grants from the Houston Endowment and the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, CEO Evan Smith and Chairman John Thornton announced yesterday.

The non-profit media publication due to launch on November 3, has now reached it's start budget goal of $4m.

The Houston Endowment, a private philanthropic foundation contributed $500,000 whilst the Knight Foundation, which promotes excellence in journalism worldwide, donated $250,000 to the online publication.

The donations come just after the hire of three more journalists, Elise Hu, Matt Stiles and Emily Bradshaw.
