Many newspapers in the US have had to cut staff and budgets, some have cut their numbers of print days and there are even those that have gone bankrupt or closed down entirely. For this reason, the Wall Street Journal have created a table and interactive map rounding up the fortunes of America's top 100 newspapers over the last three years, and it makes interesting reading.

Of the top 100, there are just 7 which have not made job cuts - the map shows how this has progressed over the past three years amongst the top 50. The table details the fates of all 100 publications, including data on circulation, staff cuts, sales, bankruptcies, reduced print days and closures. Whilst many people are aware of the problems the industry faces, this article effectively accumulates events so far and presents a useful visual depiction of newspapers in the USA.
