Despite recently filing for bankruptcy, Philadelphia Media Holdings, the parent company of the Philadelphia Inquirer and the Philadelphia Daily News has announced a novel money saving tactic. As of March 30th, the Daily News will be published as an edition of the Inquirer. The move will enable the publications to save on news wire fees, as they will be subscribed as a single entity, and also help sell advertising due to the combined circulation figures. There willl apparently be no staff cuts or competition for stories. Daily News editor Michael Days said, "Nothing is going to change about our passionate voices, about how we do what we do".
In Indiana, three newspapers are switching to morning publication as of April 6th. The KPC Media Group-owned News-Sun of Kendallville, Herald-Republican of Angola and Evening Star of Auburn are the publications involved. KPC President Terry Housholder explained that the switch "reflects the changing needs of readers and advertisers".
