EveryBlock is a service which provides its readers with information such as public health, crime figures and local authority decisions on a street by street basis. Currently available in 11 cities in the US, it has just announced plans to team up with the New York Times.
In a new box on the New York site, users will be notified everytime a local elected representative features in the Times. EveryBlock already teams up with the Chicago Tribune to provide mapped local news articles.
The practices of content sharing and more localisation of newspapers are both very relevant in the wider discussion of how to get newspapers and the news industry in general back on their feet.
