US: Daily youth newspaper, Link, to close

Free-daily newspaper, Link, is set to close by the end of the year.

Link is part of the same newspaper group that contains the Virginia Pilot, the publisher is pursuing a cost-cutting regime. The Virginia Pilot will loose 10% of its workforce, close its business section and have less pages overall.

Link launched in October 2006 achieving positive reviews. Editor of the Link, Denis Finley, said in an article in The PilotOnline, "we, as a company, cannot afford to withstand those losses in the next couple of years in this climate."

Link had a circulation of around 30,000.
