US: CNN.com sees record hits during election

The major concern for news organizations' websites covering the 2008 Presidential election is the capacity to handle record hits.

CNN.com saw a 400 percent traffic spike by 3pm US EST on Tuesday to nearly 88 million page views, said to CNN News Service Executive Vice President Susan Grant in an interview. She expects Wednesday's traffic to be "even higher."

Grant said that the website was managing the increase in traffic. The four simultaneous live streams of CNN.com Live had generated "1.6 million views domestically and internationally--seven times higher than an average full day."

She also discussed the other mediums by which CNN was providing their election coverage, through mobile offerings and live video feed.
