"In the past when you watch videos online and it's a very isolating experience," says Anthony Soohoo, Senior Vice President and General Manager of CBS Interactive. "This takes people 3,000 miles away and makes them feel like they're sitting on the couch next to each other."
Groups of people on CBS.com will access a virtual room to watch shows at the same time and will have the chance to chat, take polls and quizzes and throw virtual items like tomatoes and kisses.
The service will be available for certain CBS primetime and daytime shows from Wednesday onwards.
