Arizona daily, the East Valley Tribune will only be published four days a week rather than five beginning in January. According to Newspaper Innovation, a downturn in advertising is responsible for the decision.
The paper began a hybrid free/paid model in 2007. The first section is available for free, with a circulation of about 15,000. The rest of the paper is available for purchase and has a circulation of 104,000.
Plans to cut 142 jobs, or 40% of its overall staff, has been announced as well.
It will also cease to be distributed in Scottsdale and Tempe.
