A Verdade, a free weekly newspaper for Mozambique was launched on 27 August in the capital Maputo.
The free weekly has an initial circulation of 50,000, is printed in colour and has 32 pages
According to publisher Erik Charas A Verdade enjoys the highest circulation, with at least 10 times more copies distributed than any other weekly newspaper (they vary between 2500 to 6000 weekly).
The government owned daily newspaper prints about 8000 copies day.
For much of the population, a free paper is the only source of information.
According to the publisher, A Verdade did not have a environmental impact on its first day as people took it away with them.
