Guardian Unlimited comforted its position as the most-visited UK newspaper site, by reaching its record user figure at 18.4 million during October.

This was up almost two million from the figures for September, according to ABC Electronic figures.

This leap in users may be related to the launch of Guardian America. The Guardian attributes this growth to a sturdy news and sports agenda during October, as well as the relaunch of several of its sections, including media, money and society.

Mail Online, which combines dailymail.co.uk and mailonsunday.co.uk, regained nearly two million users, up to 13.5 million unique visitors. It surpasses Times Online, at 12.4 million users, which had been second in September.

Telegraph.co.uk
overtook Sun Online, to take fourth place, with 11.1 million users, up half a million.

Sun Online feel to 9.2 million unique users, down from 10.7 million in September.
