Journalists at
Les Echos, the French business newspaper, went on strike Wednesday, in support of departing editor
Erik Izraelewicz.
Izraelwicz announced Tuesday that he was leaving the paper for La Tribune due to editorial conflicts with
LVMH, which
purchased Les Echoes from Financial Times owner Pearson last year.
An employee also reported personal issues between Israelwicz and the publication's new director
Nicolas Beytout, LVMH media director and the former editor at
Le Figaro.
We reported that Beytout had
moved to reassure employees that the paper would remain independent following last year’s buyout.
Izraelwicz had supported employees in their strike during last year’s sale to Pearson.
