The deadline for the Knight Foundation’s Knight News Challenge is approaching. The contest awards up to $5 million for innovative ideas using digital experiments to transform community news.

Last year’s winners include individuals, as well as private and public organizations.

Since its creation in 1950, Knight Foundation has invested nearly $315 million to advance journalism quality and freedom of expression.
