75% of American Internet users watched streaming video in May
Google sites ranked first on comScore’s Video Metrix lists, with the highest number of unique video users and the most videos streamed.
Overall, Americans watched 8.3 billion streaming videos, with Google accounting for 1.8 billion of the streams (21.5 percent of the total). 1.7 billion of Google’s videos were viewed on the clear forerunner in streaming video sites YouTube. With 680 million streaming videos (8.1 percent), Fox Interactive Media ranked second, followed by Yahoo! sites and Viacom Digital.
In May, the number of Americans watching streaming online video reached 132 million, of which Google boasted 64.9 unique users. Fox Interactive Media and Yahoo! captured 52.7 million and 35 million unique viewers, respectively.
