UK: Times’ digital and print business sections become one

Posted by Elena Perotti on September 20, 2006 at 11:47 AM

The Times of London is jumping on the convergence bandwagon, announcing the integration of its print and online business desks.

Print journalists have been writing articles for the website and online editors have been moved from their section. Moreover, Times Online launched the Note, a pdf file published on the web every day at 5pm, reporting the main stories of the day.

Integration between print and online newsrooms is soon to affect The Financial Times too.
In July, the FT announced that its merger of online and print newsrooms would cause the loss of 50 jobs - 10% of its editorial staff.

Similar changes have been undertaken by the Guardian, and The Daily Telegraph has just moved to its new multimedia complex in Victoria.
