National Bolsheviks interrupt Putin's speech
Two activists from the National Bolshevik Party, a Russian radical youth organization, interrupted President Putin's welcoming speech to the 13th World Editors Forum at the Kremlin in Moscow. As Putin began his speech, in a hall protected by heavy security, the two activists unfurled a large Soviet Union flag, and chanted 'Putin is the executioner of freedom' in Russian, before being led away by security officials.
Foreign press delegates were impressed the activists had managed to penetrate the high security event, but bewildered as to who they were or what their organization represented. Vincent Baby, director of text strategy at Reuters says: "I thought they were activists for press freedom in some way. I felt sorry for them, with the world's editors sitting there passively while they were led away by security."
The National Bolshevik Party, or NatBols for short, is a radical youth party with a committed group of young and often quite educated followers, willing to risk imprisonment and even death for their beliefs. Their beliefs are hard to pin down, but tend to be nationalist, anti-American, anti-capitalist, and fascist. The party uses Nazi-style symbolism, and has a charismatic leader in Eduard Limonov, a punk novelist in his sixties with a Trotsky-esque goatee. Limonov is something of a cult figure in Russia, and recently appeared on the cover of the Russian Rolling Stone.
The government has been cracking down on the Natbols in the last two years, out of fear it could play a role in a Ukraine-style youth revolution. The Kremlin tried to ban the party last year, though a judge ruled that it could continue to exist. Several Natbol activists have been arrested, and according to Limonov tortured, for similar anti-Putin stunts in the past.

Mr. birthe voss what you said? In NBP there are many people of many nations. We have an organisation in Israel! The leader of our organiasaion in Latvia is Aio Benes, his father from Africa. Sorry for my english.
DEAR REPRESENTATIVES OF THE MASS MEDIA!
Representatives of the National-Bolshevik Party (NBP) are addressing to you. On the 5th of June, at the opening of the World Association of Newspapers Congress, we carried out an action of protest against the policy of president of the RF mister Putin - three national-bolsheviks demonstrated the transparency "Putin - the executioner of Beslan!" and scanned the slogans "Putin - executioner of freedom!", "Down with censorship!" and "Freedom to political prisoners!". Our claims to mister president were listed in the leaflet, distributed by the participants of the action. The leaflet itself is enclosed to this text for those, who have not yet seen it.
What is the NBP and what is the aim of our struggle?
The NBP is a political party, which is in opposition to the ruling regime in Russia. Our aim is to return political freedoms in Russia, to stop the war in Chechnya, to achieve the social justice. We see Russia as a parliamentary republic, only a coalition government can prevent dictatorship in our country.
For the last two years the National-Bolshevik Party has been constantly subjected to political repressions by the authorities. Last year in August the National-Bolshevik Party was outlawed for formal reasons by the decision of the Moscow regional court. The Supreme court of the RF canceled this decision as an ungrounded one, but later, under the pressure of the Kremlin and the General Public Prosecutor's Office, approved the decision the Moscow regional court. The NBP appealed this decision in the European court of human rights and that caused a rather nervous reaction of the official establishment of the Russian Federation.
At the same time the monstrous, in the spirit of the thirties of the last age, proceedings against national-bolsheviks, who carried out nonviolent protest actions, are being conducted. Criminal cases are being fabricated. Already about a hundred and fifty natsbols have gone through prisons. Extrajudicial punishments are also in common practice.
Criminal prosecutions became the rule on the 4th of August 2004. On the second of August activists of the NBP, about thirty people, carried out an action in the Ministry of Health and Social Development. National-Bolsheviks were protesting against adoption of the notorious law about the benefits monetization, sharply worsened the position of the citizens of Russia. A number of offices on the first and the second floors of the building were occupied, including the office of minister Zurabov. The arrested national-bolsheviks were fined or detained for several days of administrative arrest according to the administrative article "An unsanctioned rally". But on the 3rd of August a picture of natsbol Maxim Gromov, throwing out of the window of the occupied office a portrait of president Putin, appeared. On the 4th of August seven released earlier participants of the action - Gromov himself, Grigori Tishin, Anatoli Globa-Mikhailenko, Sergei Yezhov, Oleg Bespalov, Anatoli Korshunski and Kirill Klyonov - were arrested. They were brought charges on criminal articles "Hooliganism" and "Deliberate damage of property". In December the Tverskoy court of Moscow sentenced each natsbol to 5 years of imprisonment, later the Moscow city court lowered the terms to 2.5 - 3 years.
In that very December, on the 14th, the famous action of fourty national-bolsheviks in the reception hall of President's Administration took place. Natsbols came to one of the offices of the reception hall, listed the numerous crimes of president Putin (death of hostages in Beslan and "Nord Ost", war in Chechnya, falsification of the elections and so on) and suggested him to resign himself. All the participants of the action were arrested, they were brought charge on article "Violent seizure of power", supposing from 12 to 20 years of detention. In February the charge was changed to the less severe, but not less absurd article "Mass disorders" (from 3 to 8 years). One year later, in December 2005, under the pressure of society, and taking into consideration the heightened attention of the mass media, including foreign ones, the already familiar Tverskoy court pronounced a "palliative decision" - 31 people got a suspended sentence, and eight participants of the action - Yuri Bednov, Marina Kurasova, Alina Lebedeva, Denis Osnach, Sergei Reznichenko, Yulian Ryabtsev, Aleksei Tonkih and Natalia Chernova got from 2 to 3.5 years of imprisonment. One of the activists of the NBP, who served one year in prison on this case - Valentina Dolgova - have already won a lawsuit against the Russian Federation in the Strasbourg Court. Similar lawsuits are initiated in the Strasbourg Court on behalf of other political prisoners on this case.
At the end of April this year at the Russian-Germany summit in Tomsk national-bolsheviks managed to give to chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel a leaflet, blaming Putin's policy. After the previous political proceedings against natsbols were not supported by the society, the special services refused to fake criminal cases against participants of the action. The same evening natsbols, carried out the action, were subjected to an attempt of an attack and kidnapping by strangers in masks with identity cards of the FSB officers. Soon the leader of the Tomsk department of the NBP Maksim Larin was forcedly delivered to mental hospital. In May the Tverskoy court sentenced an activist of the NBP Olga Kudrina, who had hang the transparency "Putin, leave by yourself!" on the hotel "Rossiya", to 3.5 years of detention in a colony. One week later, on the 15th of May, right during the party meeting, the leader of the Moscow NBP organization Roman Popkov, his deputy Nazir Magomedov, national-bolsheviks Sergei Medvedev and Vladimir Titov were arrested. They were accused of hooliganism for the incident near the Taganski court on the 13th of April, when the chairman of the NBP Eduard Limonov and 15 national-bolsheviks, a half of which were girls, were attacked by armed with bottles and armature 50 soldiers of the pro-Kremlin organization "The Young Russia". On the same case Olga Shalina, an activist, and Yelena Borovskaya, a participant and an organizer of the action in Tomsk, became wanted.
Coordinated attacks against members of the NBP have already been going on for a year and a half. Attacks have already took place in the following regions of the RF: Moscow, Saint-Petersburg, Rostovskaya region, Orenburgskaya region, Kaliningradskaya region, Volgogradskaya region, Bryanskaya region, Nizhegorodskaya region, Voronezhskaya region, Samarskaya region, Altaiski region, Ulyanovskaya region, Krasnoyarski region, Kaluzhskaya region, Smolenskaya region, Tulskaya region, Tomskaya region, Yaroslavskaya region. The fact, that the law machinery, obvioiusly, by instructions of the higher echelons, is covering the activities of these fascist-minded rogues, the specially formed organizations "Nashi"("The Our People") and "Rossiya Molodaya"("The Young Russia"), deserves special attention.
Tens of these thugs were arrested, only in Moscow five criminal cases, concerning attacks on national-bolsheviks were initiated. But, because of the Kremlin's pressure none of these cases reached the court. We'll give an example: this year in January four rogues, who had beaten with baseball bats Nazir Magomedov, who is now a political prisoner, were arrested and delivered to prison. After one month of detention in prison the bandits were released and the criminal proceedings against them were stopped.
Some members of the NBP died at obscure circumstances after questionings in the FSB for the last years. The circumstances of their death have not been yet investigated.
Participants of the action of the NBP of the 5th of June - Aleksey Makarov, Yelena Boikova and Sergey Klimov - were released the same day. Also because of the fixed attention of the mass media to the World Association of Newspaper forum. But we are expecting extrajudicial punishments of national-bolsheviks to continue. Both fabrication of the criminal cases and ordered sentences are possible. In spite of that all the National-Bolshevik Party will continue the fight for Freedom in Russia. Repressions are not new to the NBP. Neither prisons, nor bullets will stop us.
