France: Metro tests Metro Sport
Posted by Elena Perotti on May 30, 2006 at 4:34 PM
From the 6th June to the 10th July French sport lovers will be kept up to date about the Football World Cup thanks to the new initiative of Metro. The person responsible for the project is Metro chief editor François Bourboulon. Metro Sport will not be a supplement, but a separate 12 page publication, and its distribution will happen independently from Metro.
A team of 350 people will be in charge of handing out the 450.000 copies in restaurants, sport clubs and even on 55 trains leaving Paris every day.
The news will be provided by 12 journalists belonging to Metro international and who will write from Germany, plus two editors working in the Paris newsroom. The editorial content will be produced in collaboration with Eurosport.
The French experiment may be exported in other countries in the future.
In Italy, Metro announces that the World Football Cup will be covered thanks to an enhanced number of sport pages in the normal Metro edition.
