The Mohammed cartoons are still sparking controversy, as Canada’s largest book retailer pulled all copies of a magazine containing the drawings from its shelves.
Indigo Books and Music has refused to sell the June issue of Harper’s Bazaar, which includes 12 of the cartoons that inflamed Muslims around the world after they were first published in a Danish newspaper and later reprinted in several European newspapers.
“The decision was made based on the fact that the content about to be published has been known to ignite demonstrations around the world,” read an internal memo released by the company.
