Metro has made the collective, unanimous editorial decision that none of its editions anywhere in the world will publish the infamous Mohammed cartoons, originally published by Danish newspaper Jyllands Posten in September 2005, that have angered Muslims worldwide.
The decision was made by the permanent working group of Metro editors in chief. Valerie Descamps, director general of Metro France, explained that "Metro is a neutral newspaper with no political or religious orientation." Metro's group of edtors in chief asked its Danish member to write an editorial, published in all Metro editions worldwide, about press freedom and the specifics of the Danish situation.
