Trinity Mirror scales back Scottish job cuts

Approximately 10 jobs that were to be eliminated by Trinity Mirror in Scotland have been saved. Under the revised plan a total of 32 jobs will be eliminated at four papers: The Scottish Daily Mirror The Sunday Mirror, The Daily Record and The Sunday Mail.

The Scottish Daily Mirror in Glasgow will retain a staff of six rather than the two announced in a restructuring plan annpunced earlier this month. (see previous posting) Additionally, three of the paper's journalists are to be relocated.

At The Daily Record the political editor and political columnist have both taken voluntary redundancy.

Negotiations between management and the National Union of Journalists are ongoing.
