UK: Observer Berliner re-launch set for 8th January 2006

The Observer, Sunday paper of the Guardian Media Group, is to be re-launched in a Berliner format on 8, January 2006. The 'new' Observer will include a full colour news section and a listing section separate to the magazine.

Other changes include the addition of a new monthly magazine called Observer Woman and the inclusion of a weekly column authored by writer and comedian Armando Iannucci.

Editor Roger Alton said the following about the re-designed paper: "the Berliner Observer will be the most modern, punchy, engaging Sunday paper, with more variety for the reader, more interactivity with our audience, fantastic use of pictures, a brilliant stable of writers, and the best array of magazines in the market.
