The Virginia-Pilot has launched a video only website called HamptonRoads.tv with material published by Hampton Roads residents for Hampton Roads residents. The focus will be on local news, entertainment and sport and there will also be film previews.

Users will be able to search video by content categories and they will be able to share videos with friends by emailing links. The project integrates viewers by allowing them to rate local videos and by inviting them to send in video material.

The new website is being launched as a beta site: "This means the product will grow and change with input from the user community. As new content areas are added or changed, users will participate – giving feedback and shaping the site for the future."
