Switzerland: Two new editors in chief

Switzerland: Two new editors in chief

Two of Switzerland's leading daily newspapers, the Neue Zürcher Zeitung (NZZ) and the Berner Zeitung BZ, will have new editors in chief.

The German-language daily newspaper Neue Zürcher Zeitung (NZZ), will have a new editor in chief as of April 2006, states KleinReport. The board of administration chose Markus Spillmann to be the successor of Hugo Bütler, who was chief editor of the NZZ for 21 years. Spillmann, who has been working for the NZZ since 1995 as political correspondent and journalist, is currently in charge of the international news department at the Sunday paper NZZ am Sonntag which was launched in 2002. Bütler will stay in a leading position in the NZZ group.

Also the Berner Zeitung BZ, the leading newspaper in Bern, will have a new chief editor: Andreas Z'Graggen will resign at the end of the year, Michael Hug will be his successor, reports Persoenlich. Z'Graggen resigns after 10 years, but will continue working for the company as journalist and moderator of TV programs. Hug is currently chief editor of Solothurner Tagblatt, a ring paper of the Berner Zeitung.
