Belgium: Le Soir goes Berliner

The Belgian daily Le Soir is reformatting itself from a "Belgian" sized paper to a Berliner on November 15. Le Soir, which has a paid circulation of 101,001, is the first Belgian paper to adopt the format.

The downsized daily will be composed of three sections, news and opinion, business and sports, and culture and lifestyle. It will print color on all pages.

These features are similar to those of other European papers. The French dailies Le Figaro and Le Monde have recently redesigned themselves to include three sections. The Italian Corriere della Sera as well as the UK's Guardian now include color on every pages

The addition of color to European papers has helped some boost advertising revenue.

Le Soir will also notably include 8 different supplements over the course of the week including a Tuesday insert aimed at youth.
