RSS, which stands for 'Really Simple Syndication' provides a convenient way of scanning websites for the latest information by listing headlines accompanied by short summaries and links to the information.
By subscribing to a website's RSS feed, the reader can bypass the site's homepage, being sent directly to the article. RSS feeds are read through an RSS aggregator or 'feed reader' such as NewsGator or NetNewsWire, most of which can be downloaded to a desktop for free.
