US: Washingtonpost.com co-founder launches citizen journalism site

Mark Potts, formerly of Washingtonpost.com, and Susan DeFife, once the head of a information site for businesswomen, have launched a community site, Backfence.com, in two Washington DC suburbs. Planning to expand into other communities soon, the sites offer local news and events, community comments and suggestions, classifieds, business listings and photo sharing. Eventually, they hope that their start-up will become successful enough to establish local sites all around the country under their brand.
