Palestine: newspaper suspended for publishing drawing offensive to Hamas
Posted by Barbara Nguyen on February 11, 2008 at 5:09 PM
A Gaza
tribunal suspended the publication of a newspaper aligned with the Fatah
yesterday after it featured a drawing in November deemed defamatory by the
local Hamas head, Ismaïl Haniyeh.
The Hamas, who have gained power in Gaza since June with various violent confrontations with the Fatah, lead by Mahmoud Abbas, have since been presented as a “putschist” movement by the Palestinian President.
