Metro Int closes Stockholm paper

Metro Bostad, the Stockholm-based real-estate edition of the free newpaper giant Metro International is to suspend its door-to-door distribution.
Metro Bostad is the first Metro International group’s newspaper to suffer the current market pressures.
The company's CEO, Per Mikael Jensen, explained that "the current price-pressured market in Stockholm is not supportive of the home-delivered, low-margin Metro Bostad concept”.
This suspension is highly symbolic, and occurs in Metro's homeland, at a time when freesheets' business model may be coming under stress. More closures could be on the way.
