Tinyurl: Putting web links in print

Posted by Evan Fell on November 8, 2007 at 11:11 AM
Tinyurl (found at tinyurl.com) is a URL shortening service that solves the problem of putting web links in print.

Sometimes there is a web link that needs to be put into print but it is so long that it takes up too much space on the page and will be very difficult for the reader to retype. This is where Tinyurl comes in. They take any long URL and generate a shorter one to give back to you. These new URLs, like tinyurl.com/ygv8bt, will redirect automatically to the original URL.

This innovative tool could make the difference between being a few lines over and copyfit and it also makes it easier for the reader to find the information they are looking for.
