India: Print media boom overestimated?
The only exception is number nine, Rajasthan Patrika, which both entered the top 10 and increased readership this year. Though Dainik Jagran has retained the number one position among all publications in the country, its readership has declined by 6.04 per cent since the previous round.
English dailies in India faced the same decline. The Times of India, last year the only English daily to make the top 10 overall, lost readers and was pushed out by Rajasthan Patrika.
The decline is surprising, as India is widely regarded as being in the midst of a print media boom with large projected growth for the next decade.
