UK: The Sun to trial mobile initiatives in 2007

Initiatives include user-generated video downloads, mobile news services and a printed inter-active bar code system.
The Sun already have a pay for mobile video service in conjunction with mobile network 3, called See Me TV where readers can submit a video and every time it is downloaded from the site (at a charge), the originator receives 1p. The charging for the new service Sun Me TV, hasn’t been decided yet.
It is also trialling special bar codes called Qode which link special codes in print to mobile internet sites, by passing operator portals. Users have to download software in order to take a picture of the code with their mobile which then takes them to a mobile internet site. Uses for this can include sports clips and discounts for readers.
Lastly, News Group is looking at ways of delivering bespoke mobile editions of both newspaper brands direct to mobile phones.
