Palestine: English monthly newspaper launched

The first English-language paper to be published in Palestine was launched earlier this week. The monthly, entitled The Palestine Times, is the first non-arabic Palestinian newspaper since Al Fajr was shut down in the 1990s.

The Palestinian Times is based in Ramallah. "Maintaining our independence is the primary objective of our newspaper," said editor in chief Othman Al Haj Mohammed, who is also one of the newspaper's proprietors. The paper, whose first edition was 12 pages in color, will also circulate in Israel.
