A survey released on Monday by LexisNexis showed that for information on major events consumers rely on traditional media over Internet-only publications.

The survey was conducted on a sample of almost 1.500 Americans aged between 25 and 64.Half of the respondents declared they would count on television for immediate information about major news. 42% of the sampled consumers would turn to Radios, 37% to local newspapers and 25% to print and broadcast media Internet sites.

Only 6% of the interviewed people expressed their preference for Internet user groups, blogs and chat rooms.

As for the future, 52% of the sample foresee they will continue to rely on traditional media for major news, whereas 35% believe they will end up trusting more the new media.
