India: New site on journalism

Posted by Anna-Maria Mende on August 18, 2005 at 5:30 PM

About three weeks ago a new site on Indian journalism launched: Newswatch India. It's aim is to become the preferred online destination for Indian journalists looking for information pertinent to their profession. The site is well designed and covers media-related topics reaching from ethics and freedom to advertising and PR. It deals with similar issues as the Editors Weblog but with a focus on India.

Asked about the team behind Newswatch India, Subir Ghosh, editor-in-chief, wrote to us: "The team comprises myself (with a background in wire, print, and online journalism) and an intern, Priyanka Chhabra. The site has been developed-designed by myself using an opensource blogging script (Nucleus CMS). Right now original content is a tenth; I hope to invert the proportion as the site keeps gaining credibility."

I have not gone through the entire site yet but I really like what I see. I have been freelancing for more than 25 years now and authoring for nearly as many years. I truly believe that this kind of site is always welcome for journalists across the country.
