Asia: IFJ report on media's current role in tsunami relief efforts

IFEX reports that The International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) has released a new report highlighting challenges faced by the media covering regions devastated by the December 2004 tsunami. The report, titled "Shaking Our Foundations: Media and the Asian Tsunami," provides on overview of reconstruction efforts to rebuild media. As the immediate task of covering the catastrophe has been completed, the IFJ says that the media's role has now shifted to "ensure transparent and corruption-free aid while local governments struggle to distribute it."
